The jokes and the television clearly got [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] it wrong about lawyers, because not all of them are evil. Most are like this lawyer, a Lethbridge woman who makes a reasonable living doing what she knows best. Mostly she spends her time satisfied with her work, but there are days when [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] blues catches up on her and she regrets no having chosen a simpler line of work.

Since 1985, she has been a lawyer and she has been practicing it together with fellow women lawyers in Lethbridge. However the symbolic gold ring from the myths isn't [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] that easy to achieve, even when more and more women have finished law from universities in Canada. Most law firms prefer male lawyers over female.

Male lawyers are lucky enough not to have to worry about one more thing that females [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] have to. Marriage, according to her, is a conscious decision which must be made, as well as having children or the general quality of life. She certainly admires those who are able to say yes and yes. Leading a double life isn't as fun as it sounds.

The one thing men and women do [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] share, however, is the financial downside in law profession. Too many young people are expecting too much of the future, such as having a good and easy life. There are very few competitive job openings, and they have to somehow manage to get one before they could pay the large student loan.

[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] It resulted to law being no longer as social and forthcoming like it was before. There is no longer any training or [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] mentoring system, like in the past. In order to become a member of the Law [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Society, one must first graduate a seven year course at the university and finish a four year internship at a law firm.

She also pointed out that twenty years ago, you wouldn't hear the same number of female criminal attorneys presently working at Lethbridge. She added that one possible reason was that many lawyers can both spend the days in the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] outside and raise children, and practice law at the same time. Volunteering to join boards and committees is a good step for them to be able to help give back to the community.

Lawyers in some big [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] law firms give up their salaries in order to buy a share of the business and gain profit. Being unable to spend more quality time with family and pursue [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] other interests are the tradeoffs of attempting to gain financial accomplishment in the law profession. Those who know nothing about professional dealings are to blame for the misconception about lawyers' exorbitant fees.

Most people have subsidized health care and subsidies. These people don't need to pay engineers or architects, or any other professionals for that matter, and they don't [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] even know school fees existed until Grade 12. Technically, it's not in their place to criticize professional fees.

She is an active participant of the Lawyers Referral Program and public talks [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] with the local community college legal education program, where she shares her knowledge. If you stumble to a criminal case and you needed a lawyer, you could simply apply for [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] legal aid and have one appointed to you.
