Joanna Rowsell hoping to feel at home as team pursuit squad prepare for Track World Cup
Joanna Rowsell is eager for Great Britain's women's team pursuit squad to make the most of home advantage at the Track World Cup in London this week.
Britain have won three of the four Track Cycling World Championship titles since the three-woman, three-kilometre event was introduced to the programme in 2008 and are among the favourites for Olympic glory.
Thursday and Friday's competition represents a chance for the hosts to claim their territory at the Olympic Velodrome and Rowsell is keen to seize the opportunity, giuseppe zanotti wedding shoes Shop Designer Wedding Shoes Online.
The 23-year-old from Cheam,Woolrich Dame Parka Outlet, Surrey,PJS Parajumpers jakker, said: 'It's important to go out there and set a good standard and show the rest of the world that we're still on top.
'We're going there to perform well, but with the view of stepping up another level for the World Championships and then the Olympics.'
Defending champions: Rowsell (left) celebrates last year's victory with Wendy Houvenaghel (centre) and Sarah Storey (right)
Rowsell is part of a four-strong British team pursuit squad for the London World Cup, alongside Wendy Houvenaghel, Laura Trott and Dani King.
The competition, which doubles as the Olympic test event, is the first of three key competitions this year,Woolrich Giacche Outlet online Italia, with the World Championships in Melbourne in April and August's Olympic track competition to follow.
With Australia a key adversary, having in 2010 won the only world title to elude Britain,Parajumpers Jakker Long Bear Salg, Rowsell hopes her squad can successfully defend their world champion's rainbow jerseys in Melbourne.
'It would be a great thing to do ahead of the Olympics,http://duveticaoutletcanada.halod.com/,' she added.
'They are a big rival, but so are the Americans,Woolrich Arctic Jacket Deutschland Shop Woolrich Dame Parka Outlet Online, the New Zealanders and the Canadians.
'We've got a lot of rivals but we definitely want to go into the last few months before the Olympics being the best in the world,Parajumpers Jakker.
'It would be quite a boost psychologically. I don't think it's essential - if I had to pick one thing this year to win it would be the Olympics - but winning on the way would help us get the momentum to carry it on to the Games,http://merrellchameleonboots.webstarts.com/.'
She believes the roar of a partisan crowd can help Britain this week.
'Whenever we race in Manchester the crowd is so, so good,' Rowsell added.
'It really makes the atmosphere amazing, so I'm hoping London will be the same,Moncler Jassen Goedkope Koop, if not better. The more noise the better when you're racing.'
Rowsell's personal record is formidable but there is no guarantee she will ride in London.
She is a two-time world champion and a European champion,Woolrich Deutschland.
She has fought off competition from a dozen hopefuls - including Olympic champions Rebecca Romero and Nicole Cooke and Paralympic champion Sarah Storey - to make the final four, duvetica jackets canada online outlet.
But with the qualifying and finals this week 24 hours apart,http://monclerjacketsdeutschland.albirank.net/, British team coach Paul Manning may resist the urge to tinker with the line-up and name just three riders,Woolrich Arctic Jacket Deutschland, leaving one as an unused reserve.
After three weeks off in December following complications after having her wisdom teeth taken out, Rowsell is optimistic she will be among the three riders taking to the start line.
She said: 'I'm feeling pretty positive. My training's gone well,http://monclerdownjacketsoutlet.albirank.net/. I'm on track at the moment.
'It's up to the coaches to decide what's going to be the fastest line-up.'
Whether she is in the squad or not, Rowsell plans to experience the Games track in race conditions by competing in Saturday's non-Olympic individual pursuit event.
She added: 'The priority is the team pursuit, but it's always good to race, especially in front of a home crowd and as it's the Olympic track I think any opportunity you need to take it.'
