'I fear for health of my son in our mouldy flat',[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
A dad suffering from a brain tumour claims his illness is being made worse because his rented flat is riddled with mould.
Matthew Bowden,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], 25,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], from Wythenshawe, says his home on Thorngreen Road has a severe mould and damp problem - which is causing him to have seizures because of stress.
Matthew was diagnosed with a brain tumour last year and has had a number of operations. Despite his condition being relatively stable,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], he is prone to epileptic fits,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], some of them severe.
He says he is also worried about the health of his two-year-old son Harry,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Harry's mother passed away two-years-ago after catching swine flu - leaving dad Matthew to raise him alone,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
Matthew said: "My doctors have told me the mould is not good for my health,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
"There's no ventilation in the property, which is making the problem worse.
"For Harry to grow up in this environment is not what I want - it's not good for his health and it's not a place he's going to be safe,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]."
Joe Doherty,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], chief executive of Willow Park, said: "The trust has carried out work to Mr Bowden's home to address his problem with condensation.
"We have been in close liaison with him and we are aware of his current health problems,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
"We will continue to work with all agencies to help Mr Bowden and provide support to both him and his family,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]."
Very sorry to read about this man and his living conditions,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. What a tragic tale. Just wish there was something that could be done to help him. Dehumidifiers are expensive to buy and run and it won stop a problem as chronic as Matthew has.
Life sure is not fair,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], there are people moaning about such petty things and then you read about this man and the unfairness in his life. Hope he can get something sorted ASAP.
