Taffeta ramblings,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
I think that I need to own a Lily Mulberry bag,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they are just so small perfectly formed furthermore would look splendid draped over my arm with a cocktail in one hand, Lily in the other.
I have a particular kind of bag addiction that spins between Mulberry addiction and Marc Jacobs fanatic,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. I am in a more Mulberry shaped place at the moment,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. There is something about the soft buttery leather and understated chic that makes me drool over their bags,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
All of my other Mulberry bags are quite sizeable,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], mostly because there is not a lot of difference in price in buying a Bayswater and purchasing my beloved Lily. But I may be about ready to commit and try out the smaller number.
I am a big online shopper mostly for the ease straight to the door delivery ( It also means that I can combine shopping and sitting in my pjs-my personal idea of heaven.) When H launched their online shop last year,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I was more than a little disappointed with the presentation of the site and clothes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it just lacked a little pazazz and flair. I am not a huge H shopper (mostly basic tops and tights) but many of the items I do own are quirky and interesting pieces that are always commented on. I was pleasantly suprised when the boy mentioned the site had been relaunched and was now all singing and dancing.
With trepidation I visited the H site and was impressed to see all the new features. As a frequent asos shopper I like all the little touches that are often missing from other online stores (info such as what size the model is wearing and their height help a lot when you are trying to decide whether the item will make you look like a whale or not). H have excelled at this,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], touches such as the Dressing Room area where you can change the model,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], change the background,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], save and share all make for a much more interactive process. Whilst I am not sure how much these features enhance the actual buying process,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it was fun playing about with the features and seems a lot more H in character rather than the drab,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], plain old site. So my thought for today is go forth and shop.
Cake on the brain time has rolled around again,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], when the winter warmers are packed away and thoughts of having to bare all again in the name of summer brings on panic palpitations. I dutifully returned to pilates last night (aches and pains today) and have hid the Easter egg stash out of reach. So in my quest to look Blake Lively summer tastic I will be eating the oatcakes and thinking of everything nicer. Any tips (and not the cayenne pepper diet kind)?
ps. the photo is from a patisserie in France,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], where I salivated over everything.
Style questions
Last week I popped into one of my favourite vintage haunts for a wander an hour later emerged with lots of questions about style,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], what style means to the individual where does it come from? The conversation started about certain styles going mainstream how new trends form. It started my head spinning in lots of different directions with the chicken and egg analogy being applied to fashion. Where do style and fashion trends spring from?
I am interested personally in the idea of vintage clothing and the subcultures that adopt a certain style wholeheartedly. The idea of where style develops from at a grassroots level is something that I just find really interesting. Is it holistic or are we just reacting to carefully developed ideas in the media? We are now bombarded with information everyday from blogs (are we all just in it for the pretty pictures is there any influence?),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], to newspapers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], magazines,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], music videos and the idea of fast fashion is prevalent everywhere. With regards to trends and styles that float in out of fashion does our influence emanate from the catwalk,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], street fashion,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], celebrities,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], bloggers or clever marketing in the pages of Vogue to Grazia? Also on a daily basis how many people do you see that have a truly individual style?
That is all I can manage on a Monday morning,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], any ponderings greatly accepted.
This week I am mostly loving:
1,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. My old beat up Levi denim shorts (still),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Now thinking of outfits that I can incorporate them into,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Yesterday I vowed it was a necessity to go t-shirt/blouse shopping with them especially in mind,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Purchased some cute retro t-shirts in Circa and Glorious,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
2. Topshop spring/summer looks,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], accidentally bought 3 dresses yesterday when I popped into on Argyle St before dinner with the girls. Had to send the boy back today with one of them, buyers remorse. Also,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I know Topshop has never been amazing quality pieces but I am finding a lot of things very see through of late,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], anyone else finding that? Or maybe I am just becoming old and respectable? Also had a gander at the Dress Up collection that launched yesterday- some pieces looked ok,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but mostly same old not so making as the tagline states.
4. Lauren Laverne on 6 Music. Firstly rather bashfully must admit I am not a big radio fan,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I like to hear the music I like don have the patience to sit through other songs while I wait. Secondly I use Spotify most days (rather bewildered with where I am to get my music fix after their news yesterday). Thirdly I always thought 6music was a bit too serious for my random musical whims. However I was pleasantly suprised when I tuned into Lauren show- not too much chit chat,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], no jingles and mostly music that I can tolerate. Been starting the working day with the hummings of Otis Redding,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], She Him and Everything Everything.
