National Team striker Lauren Cheney scored her third goal of the season. Cheney's USWNT strike partner Abby Wambach headed in the lone goal for Washington and her seventh this season.
At half time,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the Breakers' pink jerseys were auctioned off and all proceeds went to the Boston chapter of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. "It means so much,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said Angeli of wearing the pink jerseys. "All of us have been affected in some way by breast cancer. My great-grandma had it and fought it. It meant something a little bit extra for us to be out there,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and that our fans bid and raised so much money for the charity meant even more to know that they supporting us and this greater cause."
"My grandma had breast cancer and a lot of people that I know have been affected by breast cancer,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]," said Cheney. "It gives a little more fight to be playing for this cause and auctioning off these jerseys. It was fun and made me want to work a little bit harder."
The Boston Breakers are having a cinderella season in 2010,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
