on their feet during winter
I know you said short booties, but tall boots with skinny jeans/pants tucked in is really in at this time and it is usually pretty flattering. Most of all, it's warm.
You might try lace-up oxfords. that cover the entire foot. Those are accessible at this time and are cute. I would lookup some specific styles for you personally,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but I'm way tired. Zappos is a great starting place always, even if you don't buy from them.
Honestly though, under $100 is not high enough. It's absolutely worth it to spend a few $ 100 on a sturdy set of boots to wear all winter, simply because they can last you for years, sometimes decades. If you opt for something from For example.

Ankle boots are a very good standard these days if you are fashion conscious. I second the recommendations for Clark's - my $150 pair is certainly going strong after Five years. (I'm budget style in most things but shoes. My shoe collection is small but carefully committed to - because when cared for well, they LAST.)
But if you just want some trendy throwaways,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I'd suggest posted by medea42 at 5:02 AM on December 25, 2009
You can go for a different of boots -- slouchy knee-highs or calf-length, studded,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], cowboy, whatever, lots of styles are in fashion at this time. Low-heeled oxfords and loafers will also be in fashion
Youlookfab, my personal favorite "how to" style blog (although it's slightly biased in favor of classic, slightly conservative style) has already established some decent posts on footwear and getting a great look it with. They're under $100 now, nut usually cost over $200.

ha! That needs to be "but" not "nut,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]."

I've these and they are probably the most comfortable shoes in the world!

I don't know about Mizu's suggested shoe from a style standpoint, however i own those and haven't been able to stop wearing them. They're one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I've ever owned, heels or no. FWIW,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], after i bought them at the shop, the clerk said it would be a really popular style, and so i can not be alone who thinks they appear fine. I am not whatsoever convinced they'll last 5+ years, though.

Thanks for the suggestions and links, everybody! I should happen to be more clear at first that i am not actually looking for a pair that will take me car winter,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], snow and all -- My home is NYC where things get plowed pretty quickly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and that i have actual snowboots for times when the salt and slush get bad (because of course you're right; traction over fashion!). I'm more just looking for something to put on when it is not crazy-wet,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but too cold to reveal the top of a bare foot.
I actually have a couple pairs of knee-boots already. Unfortunately I have massive, elephantine calves and have to purchase specialty wide calf boots (. and generally still go get the shafts stretched even then), and becoming my bulkily demin-clad legs into them is pretty difficult, though I love the appearance. For the similar reason, I've shied away from mid-calf boots -- all of the ones I've tried on make my legs look like stuffed cylinders. Not so hot.
But! Oxfords make the perfect idea. And people Borns the first Clarks mentioned are cute. (I won't even talk about the Fryes, which make my palms itch just a little with longing.) And I've got to look into the 6pm sale .
