June classic car show fundraiser benefits Maryknoll,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
The flat economy of the past several years has affected the fabulous work of many charities and other nonprofit organizations. As unemployment remains high and gas prices reach new heights each day,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], donations to many nonprofits and charities have,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], at best,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], remained flat. Most organizations have seen donations dip slightly or take deep downturns.
The nonprofits that have maintained or increased the number of donors and donations during the last few years have had to develop and implement new and unique promotional and marketing strategies. The show is expected to attract about 100 cars ranging from pre-war antiques to rides from the disco era. They will arrive from throughout the metropolitan area, including New Jersey,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Long Island and the Hudson Valley. The first registered car for the show is a 1960 Thunderbird.
More than 20 awards will be presented to car owners and the competition will be professionally judged by the Road Knights Auto Club. Throughout the day,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], prizes will be announced for car owners and all the people who attend the show.
"The Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers' Classic Car Show is the beginning of what can become an exciting annual event and a chance to invite the community to our beautiful campus," said David Agosta, a 32-year Maryknoll employee and one of the show organizers. "It's a family day. Whether people are showing cars or coming as spectators, there will be plenty of vendor stands, food and things to do. And we particularly want to encourage people to get to know Maryknoll."
Agosta owns several classic cars and will showcase one of them at the event,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as will his co-organizer Donald Baisley.
"Several car buffs have been talking about putting on a classic car show at Maryknoll for years, and I'm so glad we're finally doing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it," said Baisley, who has been with Maryknoll for 39 years. "Maryknoll has beautiful grounds and the right resources to put on a great show. We also want to expose more people to the Maryknoll Society and the great work of the Maryknoll missioners in helping the poor and others in need around the world."
Baisley added that he is excited that the show will feature the famous 1953 Hansgen-Jaguar Special owned by Bob Millstein of Briarcliff Manor,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. Postal Service;

Tours of Maryknoll's Seminary Building, believed to be the largest fieldstone building in the country. Plenty of summer-style food,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], including hamburgers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], ice cream,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], sausage and peppers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], home-baked goods and plenty more.
The car show and all the other fun at Maryknoll on June 10 is offered for just a $5 per family suggested admission fee.
